Brian Tung Chan is a graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK. He pursued his percussion studies with Dr. Damien Harron in Leeds College of Music (LCoM), where he performed regularly with the college ensembles and orchestras. In his second year in LCoM he has been awarded the Friends Scholarship by the Principle and Director of Curriculum and Research in Leeds College of Music.

He then transferred to Royal Northern College of Music and studied with world-renowned percussionists, such as the former Liverpool Philharmonic timpanist Ian Wright and the principal percussionist of BBC Philharmonic Orchestra Paul Patrick. In his final Symphony Orchestra concert, he was the principle timpanist performing the
UK permiere of Pederecki’s Seventh Symphony: The Seven Gates of Jerusalem in Bridgewater Hall with the composer himself as the conductor. As the featured artist in RNCM Percussion Ensemble Concert 2015, he performed works including Dave Maric’s Trilogy, Verese’s Ionisation, John Cage’s Third Construction amongst the others.
He was also a percussionist in the Fairey Brass Band, where they have won the title of the Championship of the North-West Area Championship Section for 2014 and 2015.


He has received his first-class BMus degree with honors in the summer of 2015. Heading back to Hong Kong, he is now the percussion tutor of a few primary and secondary schools, leading some of the most talented to achieve great success in competitions and concerts. He is also a member of the percussion duo Brianach.

He was invited to Vienna and perform with Global Symphony Orchestra as the principal timpanist in June 2018. As an active percussionist who has performed regularly with various acclaimed orchestras around Hong Kong and China, including Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonic Orchestra. As a core member of Toolbox percussion, he has toured around the world, including Korea, San Francisco, Singapore and on, giving concerts including premiere works and other well- known programs.
