HUI Wing Hei Cheryl obtained MA in Music and BA (Hons) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong respectively. She studies percussion with Mr. James Boznos, principal timpanist of Hong Kong Philharmonic orchestra.

As an active musician, Hui worked with Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, SAR Philharmonic Orchestra and renowned cellist, Trey Lee. 

 

Apart from that, she also studies multimedia composition with Dr. Joshua Chan. Hui’s compositions have been broadcasted in Germany and premiered at Thailand Cultural Centre. Hui and her ensemble, Quadrasonic, won the first prize in the Hong Kong Percussion Competition 2016 with her original composition "The Distant Sound". 

 

Between 2016 and 2017, Hui and her team started developing their own interactive musical instrument. Their proposal was selected by the King’s College London Venture Accelerator in 2016 and received a scholarship from the Soyoye Technology Innovation in March 2017. In 2018, Hui has worked with The Warehouse Teenage Club and the Southern District Council to create an interactive installation. Later on, she was invited to hold a workshop at RTHK of interactive installation and STEAM. Nevertheless, Hui has collaborated closely with primary and secondary schools as commissioned composer and arranger, percussion band conductor and tutor.
