Noel CHEN

Noel Chen is a music educator with over 15 years of experience working with children in Hong Kong, the UK, and Brazil. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music, majoring in Piano, and a Master’s degree in Comparative and Public History. She has also undertaken specialised training in Kodály, Dalcroze, Music Learning Theory, and Montessori education.

Noel believes that every child has an innate capacity for musical expression. Her teaching is grounded in a child-centred and trauma-informed approach, creating a safe and encouraging environment where children feel comfortable being themselves, experimenting, making mistakes, and discovering their own musical voice.

Noel values following the child’s lead and listening closely to their responses, incorporating their interests, ideas, and reactions into lessons. Through singing, movement, listening, instruments, and playful exploration, she aims to make music something children actively experience and enjoy.

Her background in both music and history also informs an interdisciplinary approach to music education, encouraging children to understand music not only as a creative and expressive art form, but also as part of the wider cultural and historical world.

Above all, Noel hopes to help children develop confidence, curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.
