Wincy Chan is an HCPC-registered Music Therapist (UK) and a Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT), with a particular interest in working with children with special educational needs, especially children on the autism spectrum.
Wincy has clinical experience working in an outpatient centre within a UK hospital, where she provided music therapy to pre-school-aged children and their parents. Through this work, she experienced first-hand the value of involving parents in therapy and saw how music could empower parents to connect and communicate with their children in everyday life. This experience inspired her to bring a parent-inclusive approach to her work in Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, Wincy partnered with The Salvation Army Tai Po Integrated Service for Young People to facilitate an honorary music group focusing on emotional awareness and emotional regulation for primary school-aged children during the summer of 2025.
Wincy’s practice is informed by person-centred, improvisational and psychodynamic approaches. She places great value on the therapeutic relationship and on collaboration with parents and caregivers. She believes that music can support children in their development, help them build greater awareness of themselves and their emotions, and provide a meaningful medium through which they can express themselves and communicate with others.
